Health was ranked as the second most important factor for Mid Career Hires and Married respondents when choosing a community. It ranked no lower than fourth most important out of eight items for all segments.

No significant differences exist on these items based on gender or marital status. Some differences based on race were seen as Whites are happier than other racial groups with variety of health care facilities.

When respondents were asked for their ideas for improving this category, they most frequently mentioned ideas were:

  • Increase number of doctors taking new patients
  • Increase availability of specialists
  • Improve quality of health facilities (gyms)
  • Provide onsite health/fitness facilities
  • Provide more health conscious restaurants
  • More menu options for people with dietary restrictions
  • Increase number of bike and jogging paths
  • Improve interconnectedness of greenways
